The publication looked at more than 31,000 hotels across the country and around the world. US News & World Report says it examined each hotel’s star rating, travel experts reviews and overall customer satisfaction.

The Cloister and The Lodge on Sea Island are consistently ranked among the top resorts in the world and are within a five-hour drive of Atlanta. U.S. News & World Report noted that both resorts represent Southern luxury at its finest.

Ritz-Carlton Reynolds, Lake Oconee is only an hour east of Atlanta off Interstate 20 in Greensboro. The 12,000-acre development offers not one, not two, but six golf courses.

U.S. News & World Report noted the resort’s customer satisfaction with the decor “inspired by Georgia pines and lakefront docks” and the views of Lake Oconee.
