MIDLAND, Ga. — A father and son are dead after a tree fell at a golf course near Columbus.
It happened at the Bull Creek Golf Course in Midland, Georgia, just after 6 p.m. Sunday.
The Muscogee County Coroner confirmed to WTVM-TV that Matthew Terrell Collins Sr., 58, and Matthew Terrell Collins Jr., 29, were taking refuge under a tree in their golf cart when the tree fell and crushed them.

“This seems like a terrible accident, but we’ll have the police department and the coroner do a thorough investigation. Our thoughts are with the family members of the deceased. This is a terrible storm that came through our community,” Columbus Fire-EMS Chief Sal Scarpa said.
The men are from Harris County.
Scarpa said he was warning people in that area to be careful if they have to travel throughout the evening.
Gov. Brian Kemp sent his condolences in a post on X, saying, “Marty, the girls, and I are saddened by the tragic deaths of two Georgians in Muscogee County today as a result of the severe weather. We ask that you join us in keeping their loved ones in our thoughts and prayers, along with all those responding to storm damage.”
