A neighbor described the people who lived there as a wonderful couple, calling it a devastating thing to happen.

She told Channel 2 that smoke filled the home when the fireplace flue wasn’t opened, and the fire spread quickly when they tried to put it out.

The official cause of the fire is under investigation. A fire spokesman tells Channel 2 Action News that Dallas Police, Paulding County Sheriff’s Office and the State Fire Marshall’s Office are assisting.
