SCREVEN COUNTY, Ga. — A 5-year-old girl died Thursday after she was hit by a car waiting at her bus stop.
The crash happened around 6:39 a.m. in Screven County, which is in southeast Georgia.
Georgia State Patrol said a driver in a Dodge Dart hit the girl at her bus stop on White Hill Road. The child reportedly had darted into the roadway unexpectedly.

Screven County EMS took the 5-year-old to Optim Medical Center in Sylvania, where she later died from her injuries.
GSP said it’s unclear what made the child run into the road. Officials have not identified her.
