ATLANTA — Georgia State Patrol has identified both the driver who caused a crash and the innocent driver killed on Monday night.
GSP says Cooper Schoenke, 19, of DeKalb County was killed when Fadume Mohamed, 23, of Stone Mountain led troopers on a chase.
His mother remembered her son was the sweetest, kindest, most gentle kid in the world.

Just before 8 p.m., a trooper spotted a dark-colored Chevrolet Equinox speeding on Interstate 20, so the trooper tried pulling the driver, later identified as Mohamed, over.
Mohamed sped away, GSP says, and continued off of the interstate and onto Moreland Avenue in Atlanta’s Little 5 Points neighborhood.
They say Mohamed ran a red light and crashed into a Honda Accord being driven by Schoenke, who was pronounced dead on the scene.
Surveillance video shows the moments after the Honda accord was violently struck at the intersection of Moreland Avenue and McClendon Avenue.
Witnesses told Channel 2’s Candace McCowan that the scene was jarring.
“Just seeing that they had the red tarp over the Honda that was tough,” said witness Shamir Yates.

Mohamed was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital for treatment of her non-life-threatening injuries.
She will be charged with vehicular homicide, murder, possession of a schedule I narcotic, fleeing and other traffic-related crimes.
Witnesses say they watched as Faduma was taken out of the car and put into an ambulance. They say she seemed excited to have survived the ordeal.
“Throwing up hand signs, middle fingers. Maybe, I don’t know, a reaction as if she survived and it was a celebration more than a disappointment,” added Yates.
Schoenke worked at The Fox Theatre, who shared a statement with Channel 2 Action News.
“Our thoughts are with Cooper’s loved ones during this unthinkable time. The entire Fox family is mourning his loss.”
