Trespassing call at liquor store ends in Atlanta police shooting

ATLANTA — A suspect is at Grady Memorial Hospital on Monday night after being shot by an Atlanta police officer.

Police confirmed to Channel 2 Action News that they are investigating an officer-involved shooting near Hollywood Road and an auto parts store.

Channel 2’s Tom Regan learned that the incident began with a trespassing call at a liquor store in the area.

Police say the officer tried to question the man, but he ran off. The officer was able to find the suspect in a nearby building.

That’s when police say the suspect came toward the officer, and the officer fired gunshots, hitting the suspect.

The severity of the suspect’s injuries is unclear.

The officer sustained a minor injury to her leg.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation says they have responded to the scene.
