ATLANTA — Former Atlanta Keisha Lance Bottoms is telling a different story after President Donald Trump claimed he fired her from her White House position.
Trump posted on social media about it.
But Bottoms told Channel 2’s Jorge Estevez she had already resigned from the unpaid, and volunteer role.
“I said, ‘Oh, he thinks he fired me too from the job that I didn’t get paid for,” Bottoms said about Trump’s post. “I was quite tickled to see one that the Vice President of the United States was thinking about me the day after his inauguration at 1:30 a.m.”
It turns out the post was a day late because Bottoms, who served for almost a year as a senior advisor to former President Joe Biden, had already resigned a few days into 2025.

“Doesn’t the president have a right to declare his supporters and the country that he’s letting go people from a previous administration?” Estevez asked Bottoms.
“He certainly does, but I already sent my resignation to President Biden on Jan. 4, and I said it would be effective Jan. 20,” Bottoms said.
Despite the dispute over resigning versus getting fired, Bottoms had this to say about the new administration.
“He said that he would tackle inflation. I hope he is successful in doing that. He said he would end the war in Ukraine. I hope he is successful in doing that. He said that he will do better with immigration. I hope he is successful in doing that,” Bottoms said.
Estevez has been trying to get reaction from the White House and so far, he’s gotten no response.
