ATLANTA — A cookout inside an Atlanta park ended with one person dead and five others injured.
The shooting happened Thursday night around 9:45 p.m. at Empire Park on Oak Drive in southeast Atlanta.
Since our first report on WSB Tonight at 11 p.m., we have now learned a teen who died at the scene was just 17 years old.
Officers said a 21-year-old woman was shot, but is stable. Less than a mile away from the park, police found three more victims. One is in critical condition.
Updates from law enforcement on Channel 2 Action News at Noon.
During a traffic stop on Old Hapeville Road and Cleveland Ave, police found a passenger shot inside the car.
“At this time, it appears the shooting scenes are all related with the actual shooting location being 245 Oak Dr SE,” police said.

Atlanta City Councilman Antonio Lewis says neighbors called him after the shooting happened, and he went to the scene.
Lewis told Channel 2’s Cory James that he watched some Ring video from a neighbor in that area and said there were at least 50 shots fired.
“Emotional intelligence is the biggest thing that people are missing. We always say common sense ain’t that common. Right now, if people were to use common sense, they’d know they shouldn’t be taking each other’s lives. They know that. They know that. And if they don’t know right from wrong, we’ve got a place to put them,” Lewis said.
