ATLANTA — Crews are continuing to work on restoring a busy Midtown road after a water main break, Atlanta’s Department of Watershed Management reported Thursday night.
Crews completed repairs to a water main break at Spring Street NW and 17th Street NW, but the road will stay closed until restoration work is completed.
The department estimates the road will reopen in time for Friday morning’s commute.
During the repair process on Wednesday night, a gas line was inadvertently damaged, prompting Atlanta Gas Light crews to join the site to perform necessary gas line repairs.

Drivers are encouraged to seek alternate routes until Spring Street has reopened, and once it is, use caution.
Channel 2 Triple Team Traffic’s Mike Shields recommends Peachtree Street, Northside Drive, Piedmont Avenue or I-75/I-85 as alternate routes.
Department of Watershed Management will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as new information becomes available.
