EMERSON, Ga. — Authorities are investigating after a train crashed into a tractor-trailer in Bartow County on Thursday afternoon.
Emerson Police Chief Kyle Teems told Channel 2 Action News that an officer noticed a tractor-trailer stuck on the tracks at Gaston Westbrook Avenue in Emerson at 1:15 p.m.
The officer called 911 to have CSX stop any approaching trains.

About three minutes later, police say a train crashed into the passenger side of the tractor-trailer.
The tractor-trailer turned over and spilled the non-flammable tar it was carrying.
Police say the driver was not in the tractor-trailer at the time of the crash.

CSX says none of the train crew was injured.
They say Bartow County officials took over the crash investigation.
The tractor-trailer driver received a citation for failure to obey traffic control device and failure to obey railroad grade crossing restrictions.
