CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. — Officials shut down Interstate 75 northbound in Clayton County for hours after a large pothole opened up on an overpass.
Triple Team Traffic’s Mike Shields first told you crews are inspecting the overpass over Meadowbrook Lane near the Mt. Zion Blvd exit on Channel 2 Action News This Morning.
Police say drivers on Meadowbrook Lane reported pieces of the interstate falling from above.

Channel 2’s Steve Gehlbach spoke with drivers who were frustrated by the delay in their commute.
“Just trying to get to work right up the street,” one driver said.
Tracy Hessaway told Gehlbach that she heard about the closure from Triple Team Traffic around 6 a.m.
“I planned my commute, so came about 45 minutes early…it’s been a long morning, but we made it," Hessaway said.

Lanes started to slowly reopen late Wednesday morning. But GDOT officials say it could be the afternoon before all lanes are back open.
They will also need to come back at a later date to make the permanent bridge repairs.
