ATHENS, Ga. — Three young men are facing murder charges following an armed robbery attempt last week.

Around 8:16 p.m. on Nov.6, Athens-Clarke County police responded to a person down call in the 100 block of Madison Ave.
When officers arrived, they found Antonio Jewell, 22, of Winterville, on the sidewalk. While First responders attempted life-saving measures, Jewell died from his injuries at the scene, police said.
Investigators learned Jewell’s death stemmed from an armed robbery attempt.

On Monday, ACCPD arrested three suspects in connection with the 22-year-old’s death.
Samtavious Clark, 23, Jeremiah Gresham,18, and Dion Nesbitt, 18, all from Athens, were charged with murder/malice murder, armed robbery, possession of a firearm during commission of/ attempt to commit certain felonies, and criminal street gang charges. All three were booked into the Clarke County Jail.
