ATHENS, Ga. — University of Georgia officials have issued an all clear after reports of an armed shooter on Friday night were determined to be a hoax.
Officials say the UGA Police Department Communications Center received a call about a shooter at 8:45 p.m.

Officers responded to the Main Library where the caller reported the shooter was located and searched the area.
“A preliminary investigation suggests the event was a hoax, but officers remain in the vicinity to investigate and collect information. Please stay away from the area,” the university said.
