CLARKE COUNTY, Ga. — Athens police have arrested a man accused of killing a man in a traffic crash while being intoxicated.
On Dec. 17, police responded to reports of a crash at around 8:30 p.m. near Macon Highway and the intersection of Garden Lane.
Investigators determined that a Toyota MR2 driven by John Orchard, 30, was traveling east on Macon Highway when a Jeep Gladiator turned out of a driveway onto the highway.

The Toyota hit the Jeep in the rear critically injuring the front seat passenger of the Jeep.
He later died at a nearby hospital from his injuries.
The driver of the Jeep suffered non-life-threatening injuries and Orchard suffered minor injuries.
Orchard was found by the Clark County Sheriff’s Office and arrested on warrants for felony first-degree homicide by vehicle, driving under the influence, and following too closely.
