FOREST PARK, Ga. — A road collapse has impacted traffic throughout Monday and will continue into Tuesday.
According to the city of Forest Park, the roadway collapsed at the intersection of Longleaf Drive and Pine Creek Road because of a broken six-inch water line.
“The road came rumbling down right after, taking all the sediment from underneath it,” Public Works Director Alton Matthews said.

The city has shut down the road and says repairs will continue on Tuesday morning.
Channel 2’s Tom Jones was there all day on Monday as crews worked to make the repairs and keep drivers safe.
Some neighbors in the area said they couldn’t get to their homes, and others in their homes said there was no water.
“I was wondering why my water was slow this morning. I thought something happened. My kids were like, ‘Did you pay the water bill?’” neighbor Jemila Ward said.

Officials say it had nothing to do with the recent increase in rain.
“It’s just the water line and pressure, and the amount of water that’s going through the line is what eroded the subbase,” Matthews said.
Workers hope to have the road reopened on Tuesday.
