GSPs preliminary report said the deputy was chasing the Infiniti driver, who lost control and hit a tractor-trailer on the left side of the cab. The Infiniti’s right front tire broke loose and hit a Kia Rio.

The tractor-trailer then drove into the right emergency lane. GSP said the deputy tried to pass the truck, but the patrol car was pushed into the guardrail. The patrol car landed on its roof on top of the guardrail.

The Kia’s driver and passenger and the driver of the tractor-trailer, suffered minor injuries. The driver of the Infiniti was not injured.

Several lanes were closed for about four hours as crews worked to investigate and clear the wreckage.
