BB gun found at Cobb high school; 3 students in custody

COBB COUNTY, Ga. — Three students are in police custody after a BB gun was found at Pebblebrook High School’s campus in Cobb County.

School district officials say the high school went into a Code Red lockdown on Tuesday morning due to an altercation and a weapon.

All three students involved were apprehended. Their identities have not been released

“Although none of our Vapor Wake Canine Detection teams were on-site at the time, our staff acted quickly to secure the building and all students are safe,” the district said in a statement.

Cobb County School Board Member Tre Hutchins told Channel 2’s Tyisha Fernandes that only a few parents came to the school to pick up their children.

He added that he is proud of how swiftly school police handled the situation and ensured everyone’s safety.

“Maybe last two or three years, safety has been my number one priority, ensuring safe schools. With everything happening nationally, even locally, I believe we have a good plan in place,” he said.

It’s unclear if any shots were fired.

No injuries have been reported.
