Surveillance footage from the Indian Hills home shows two men looking inside.
One uses a flashlight to get a good look. The homeowners told Channel 2 Cobb County Bureau Chief Michele Newell they believe four people were involved, along with a getaway driver.
“You believe being in East Cobb, being in the neighborhood we are in, that it’s a relatively safe area, so it’s a little surprising,” Thomas Martin said.
Martin said he and his wife saw people they did not know outside of their home.
They were able to watch the cameras’ live feed while they were on their way home from dinner. They called police and asked a neighbor to check, while officers were on their way.
“It’s just kind of surprising now with everybody who has cameras on their home that people think this is still something that can be done,” Martin said.

Martin said the back door on his deck was shattered, but he is thankful the suspects ran off before they could make it into the home. He believes the neighbor he asked to check on the property scared the burglars away.
“The men that were up on our deck fled, jumped the fence, got into the car, they sped off,” Martin said.
He said police believe other homes may have been targeted.
“They were telling us that there were multiple reports going down Johnson Ferry, that there were multiple neighborhoods after ours that reported the same black SUV and men approaching the homes,” he said.
