While he served as a fire battalion chief, Cauthen’s other passion was agricultural. His family and friends nicknamed him “The Cow Whisperer” because he loved to take care of cattle, according to his obituary.
“Bart planned for the future and wanted to spend his retirement years whispering to his dogs and cows. His consummate knowledge of the cattle business would make him an integral part of The Coweta Cattlemen’s Association where he served as a member and a past president. He thoroughly enjoyed planning the annual rodeo,” his obituary read.
Cauthen’s family also describe his dedication to his church, where he served as a deacon.
In lieu of flowers, Cauthen’s family request donations be made to White Oak First Baptist Church in Sharpsburg or a charity in his memory.
