Police said a group of five girls ordered an Uber to take them home after they finished eating at Waffle House.

When the driver, identified as 38-year-old Meredith Grundy, arrived, he told them he could only take four of them because his car didn’t have have enough room or seatbelts.

Police said the driver and girls got into an argument over who should cancel the trip with Uber.

“The driver said one of the girls attacked him, threatened to kill him,” said Sgt. Michael Cheek, Dunwoody Police Department.

The girls denied the driver’s claims.

Police have charged Grundy with aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during a felony.

Cheek said it’s an active investigation as they work to determine the exact sequence of events, including why the girls were out at 2:30 in the morning.

According to the Uber Teen account, a teen can request a trip, but guest riders between 13 and 17 years old must have permission from a parent. All teens must also sit in the backseat.

Uber sent the following statement to Channel 2 Action News:

“Our thoughts are with the rider as she recovers from this horrifying attack. We removed the driver’s access to the platform as soon as this was reported to us, and we stand ready to support law enforcement with their investigation.”
