DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — An evening drive turned violent as someone shot a woman, leaving bullet holes all over her car.
DeKalb County police shut down a well-traveled road as they searched for the shooter.
Channel 2’s Tom Jones was at the scene, where he talked to a neighbor who lives near where the woman crashed on Panthersville Road and Tolliver Drive.
Joe Strotter told him he wasn’t surprised to see several officers in his neighborhood. “And we moved here like, ‘Oh, it’s going to be quiet.’ But it isn’t. Police come through here all the time,” he said.

Strotter was trying to get home, and he says he couldn’t because police had the road blocked off. He saw a tow truck and blue lights everywhere. “I wonder what happened.”
Jones told him police are investigating a woman shot while traveling in a car. The car is riddled with bullets.
The car crashed through a homeowner’s fence on Panthersville Road.
Strotter said he and his wife were on the way home in separate cars, and traffic was backed up. So, they decided to head to dinner.
When they returned police were still there, but he didn’t see the victim’s car. “We didn’t see anything. We didn’t see nothing. As a matter of fact, the tow truck was parked right in front of our house,” Strotter said.
That may be because the car had crashed through the fence. Jones saw that tow truck driver tow the damaged car away.
Police said the woman is in the hospital in critical condition. Officers say they will share more on this incident when new details become available.
