Covington police said they received reports of a suspicious person matching Shane’s description on Pennington Street around 6 p.m. Tuesday. Officers searched the area for an hour, but nothing turned up.

Around 1 a.m., another homeowner on Green Acres Court reported Shane was banging on her door. She gave police Ring camera footage that showed Shane wearing a gray hoodie. Investigators confirmed it was Shane.

The Rockdale K-9 unit responded to the scene and started tracking. Other homeowners on Ford Street and Thrash Street reported sightings of Shane.

K-9 units began a second track on Thrash Street, which led them to a vacant house on Morris Drive. Investigators found a broken window and found Shane hiding inside.

Conyers police say Shane was in jail after he was accused of kidnapping his ex-girlfriend and leading police on a chase. He was charged with felony fleeing, possession of methamphetamine, reckless driving and more.

Conyers police shared dash camera footage that shows an officer doing a PIT maneuver during a police chase in Covington on the Sunday before Thanksgiving.

Rockdale deputies took Shane to Grady for a medical evaluation Sunday night after a suicide attempt. He escaped around 1:20 a.m. Monday

A photo captured him getting away while wearing a hospital gown.

After his escape, the sheriff’s office said Shane stole an SUV at Piedmont Ave and Auburn Ave but crashed it less than a mile away on Ivan Allen Jr. Blvd. The car’s owner said a Glock handgun was stolen.

Shane was in Atlanta’s Little Five Points neighborhood wearing a red hoodie and dark blue pants later in the day. He was then seen Monday night on camera stealing a silver Pontiac Grand Prix with Georgia tag RWN9945 near Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

The vehicle was located abandoned in the parking lot of the Publix on Hwy. 155 in Henry County. He then ordered an Uber from there to take him to a home in Rockdale County.

Deputies got a search warrant for the home but did not find him. It was not immediately clear how he ordered the Uber.
