ATLANTA — Strong and severe storms moved across metro Atlanta on Thursday night, leaving downed trees and powerlines, as well as dumping hail.
Severe Weather Team 2 had been warning throughout the day that these storms could produce large hail.

The National Weather Service sent out a photo on X of a chunk of hail about 2 inches in diameter.

The storms also sent trees onto homes across the area.
Channel 2’s Courtney Francisco found a home in Douglas County where a tree damaged a home while a family was inside. Luckily, no one was injured.

The Atlanta Braves had to cover the field and issued a rain stop for Thursday’s game against the Phillies.
A ground stop was also issued at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport.

9:12 p.m. Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Carroll, Clayton, Cobb, Coweta, DeKalb, Douglas, Fayette, Fulton, Henry, Meriwether, Pike, Rockdale and Spalding County until 10:00 p.m.
