A spokesperson for the sheriff’s office confirmed he turned himself in, but did not release any other details.

Earlier this month, the Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office said a Dodge Charger hit a Chevy Silverado on Interstate 20 Eastbound near Panola Road in DeKalb County, then left the scene.

An off-duty Atlanta officer, Sen. Ofc. Tony Black, saw the crash and followed Hurst and the Charger to get the license plate information.

The two argued in a parking lot before Black was stabbed several times with a box cutter, sending him to Grady Memorial Hospital. He was released two days later.

Black told Channel 2′s Michael Seiden he was on his way to a birthday party when Hurst accused him of cutting him off in traffic. That’s when Black says Hurst crashed into his truck. He was about to take a photo of the license plate when things escalated.

“I’m assuming he struck me several times with that object and he ended up flattening my tires on my truck to keep me from following him again,” Black said.

A bond amount has not been set for Hurst.
