UNION CITY, Ga. — A driver died and paramedics rushed two children to a hospital after an SUV crashed into a power pole.
The crash happened on Highpoint Road in Union City just after 8 p.m. Monday.

Georgia State Patrol said a driver in a Jeep Wrangler lost control, hit a curb and went off the road into a power pole. The SUV then went down an embankment and landed on its roof.
Troopers said the driver and two children were thrown from the SUV at some point during the crash. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
The children, whose ages were not released, are being treated at Arthur M. Blank Hospital.

As troopers investigated the crash, Georgia Power crews worked for hours to restore power to over 1,500 customers who lost power.
It was restored Tuesday morning.
