Video from the incident shows a fight involving several girls, one of whom can be seen trying to stop one of the girls from stabbing her classmate repeatedly.
Two students were taken to the hospital and are expected to recover.
The high school was sent into a hard lockdown for several hours.
Parents told Channel 2’s Courtney Francisco that they rushed to the school after being notified of the lockdown.
“I dropped my phone immediately because once they go into lockdown, something took place. And my daughter sent me a notification as to what took place and I was on my way here and trying to get up there to check her our and make sure she was safe,” parent Kasha Fulton said.
Langston Hughes High School has metal detectors at its entrances, so many parents are wondering how the knife got into the school.
