A 50-foot tree smashed through a living room in Clayton County, cutting the home in half. It extended through the entire home, taking out part of the back wall as well. Neighbors said their homes shook when it fell.

“I hope everyone is safe, that’s the main thing,” said neighbor Chris Dickerson. “(The homeowner) called me up right when I stuck my head out the door, and he called me and said, ‘Chris, a tree fell on my house!’ I asked if everyone was OK, he said yes. I went, ‘That’s the main thing. The house can be fixed, but you can’t.‘”

Trees and powerlines were torn down in Carroll County. Cypress Circle was one of about a dozen areas in that county that crews were working to clean up.

The storms also sent a tree crashing onto a house and a car, taking down powerlines along with it, in Cobb County. Acworth City Power crews responded to Rockdale Road to make repairs.

Sera Speegle said she got a big surprise when she pulled out of her driveway to go get her kids from school.

“Heard a huge snap, the giant tree fell across the street, smacked the neighbor’s house, all the while, I was literally driving under the power cords when they started to bungee up and down,” she said.

Standing water caused road hazards around Cobb, including along I-75 and I-285.

Further south, a viewer from Lamar County showed a massive tree more than 100 years old that crashed down on their farm.
