BROOKLINE, Mass. — A 34-year-old Massachusetts teacher was arrested after investigators said he used social media to exchange nude photos with teenage girls in several states, including Georgia.

On Friday, detectives in Brookline, Mass. arrested John Gavin, 34, in connection to a child enticement investigation.
The investigation revealed Gavin, was allegedly communicating with as many as six girls between 12 to 17 years old. Authorities said the girls live in multiple states including Georgia, Texas, Tennessee, West Virginia, North Carolina, and Florida.
According to Brookline officials, Gavin is a teacher at Josiah Quincy Upper, in Boston and worked at the Hayes (Heath) School in Brookline as a paraprofessional from Jan. to Aug. 2020.

“It is alleged that during some of these conversations, Gavin disclosed that he is a school teacher, enticed the girls to send nude photos of themselves, and sent photos of himself,” police said in a release.
In a statement, Boston Public Schools confirmed to our sister station, Boston 25 News that they “immediately placed the individual on administrative leave.”
A BPS spokesperson said the “safety and well-being of our students is always our highest priority” and reiterated to school families that charges against Gavin “are not related to BPS or BPS students.”

Gaven was arrested and charged with the following:
- Enticement of a child under age 16
- Dissemination of material harmful to minors
- Enticement of a child under age 18 to pose in a state of nudity
- Possession of visual material of a child depicted in sexual conduct
He’s being held on a $50,000 cash bail. If released police said Gavin will be placed on GPS with an exclusion zone of the Josiah Quincy School in Boston. He is required to stay away and have no contact with the victims, and no contact or communication with children under age 18. He may not leave the state of Massachusetts and is required to surrender his passport. He may not use social media or applications that allow for texting such as Discord, WhatsApp, Snapchat, and TikTok.
While there have been no victims identified in Massachusetts, anyone who believes they were contacted by Gavin is urged to contact Brookline detectives at 617-730-2244.
